Youth Services Glenview Northbrook: Pride Youth Program
Pride Youth – Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook (ysgn.org)
The Pride Youth Program offers social support and leadership programming for more than 250 LGBTQ+ youth ages 4-24 and their families from across Chicago’s northern suburbs. The prideCONNECT, prideSUPPORT, and prideLEAD programs offer a variety of opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender youth and youth who are questioning their sexual and/or gender identities to build relationships, get support, and lead their communities. The Pride Youth Program is guided by our core values: inclusion, hope, non-punitive accountability, partnership, and responsiveness.

Pinwheels is a network of families embracing their children’s and teens’ gender creativity in a kind and loving manner. The support group focuses on providing a monthly meeting place for parents to connect with other families by sharing information and experiences.

LEGAL NAME AND GENDER MARKER CHANGE

Birth Certificate Name Change and Gender Maker Change (for individuals born in IL) - As of January 1, 2018, the Division of Vital Records will update the gender marker on an Illinois birth certificate upon receipt of a declaration by a licensed health care professional stating the person has undergone treatment that is clinically appropriate for gender transition. See Public Act 100-0360.
To apply for an updated birth certificate, an applicant should submit:
Affidavit and Certificate of Correction Request, signed in front of a notary
To update the gender marker, a Declaration of Gender Transition, signed by a licensed health care professional.
To update the name, a certified copy of your court order for name change
Copy of a non-expired government-issued photo ID of the applicant
Applicable fees ($15 fee includes one certified copy, $2 each additional copy)
Submit the application to:

PFLAG/PTI Parents of Transgender Individuals (PTI) Chicago | PFLAG Council of Northern Illinois (pflagillinois.org)
Meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month on Zoom from 7 pm to 9 pm for the PTI Chicago Monthly Chapter Meeting. Members will receive an e-mail the weekend before the Zoom meeting with the Zoom link and password to enter the meeting. Anyone who is not a member and is the parent or family member of a transgender, non-binary, or gender non-conforming individual who wishes to participate should e-mail pflagptichicago@pflagillinois.org
